The clay itself is celadon green with a clear glaze over it. I made this by wedging green pigment into a white clay to turn the whole clay celadon. I then hand rolled it into a slab using a rolling pin, traced, measured and cut out each piece before assembling it to make the bookend. Once the bookend is dry I fire it in the kiln, then brush it with a clear glaze, and fire it again to make the final product.
The vase bookend is for dried flowers or other dried foliage. It is not meant to hold water. If you want it to be heavier or more secure, place pebbles or the like in the bottom.
