Cobalt Large Wall Altar

The clay itself is cobalt blue with a clear glaze over it. I made this by wedging cobalt pigment into a white clay to turn the whole clay blue. I then hand rolled it into a slab using a rolling pin, traced, measured and cut out each piece before assembling it to make the wall altar. Once the altar is dry I fire it in the kiln, then brush it with a clear glaze, and fire it again to make the final product.
The large wall altar is a design I came up with in thinking of ways to bring together my love of ceramics and my love of growing flowers. The tube on the right can hold dried flowers (it is not meant to hold water), while the base shelf and half shelf can display any treasures or keepsakes.
Hang with a nail and a command strip (to help it hang straight)
