The clay itself is vivid blue with a clear glaze over it. This one was a ~learning experience.~ I wedged light purple pigment into a white clay to turn the whole clay purple, but the kiln had other ideas. I then hand rolled it into a slab using a rolling pin, traced, measured and cut out each piece before assembling it to make the bookend. Once the bookend is dry I fire it in the kiln, then brush it with a clear glaze, and fire it again to make the final product.
The vase bookend is for dried flowers or other dried foliage. It is not meant to hold water. If you want it to be heavier or more secure, place pebbles or the like in the bottom.
Dimensions: about 5in high, 4.5in across, 1.5in deep
